More than fifty years ago, Natalie Van Vleck had a singular vision: to preserve what was known throughout the region as Flanders Nature Center in order that others could experience beauty in nature, learn about the importance of protecting the environment, sustain rural traditions of the land, and most importantly, take part in educational activities that unite nature, art, farming, and the environment.

Today, her legacy is a vision become reality. Flanders is a treasure… a first-class land trust and nature center, and an invaluable and irreplaceable community asset. Its 2,300 acres of preserves and sanctuaries, including the 200-acre Van Vleck Farm and Nature Sanctuary, offer seemingly endless opportunities for exploration, education, discovery, and recreation.

Flanders relies on dedicated friends, members, and volunteers to fulfill its mission.  By becoming involved, you’ll take pride in knowing that you are supporting important land preservation efforts and exceptional environmental education programming for young and old alike.
