Guided Hike at the Hetzel

Everyone is invited to explore the Hetzel Refuge in Middlebury — a pristine, 66 acre wooded sanctuary offering excellent observation areas for both birds and wildlife. Join Beth Lyons and John Cavallaro for a guided walk through the Refuge’s diverse habitats, including mixed woodlands, open hayfields, conifer plantations, swamps, and several manmade ponds that provide a rich haven for local species. This moderate, 60 minute, 1.5mile loop is perfect for anyone looking to enjoy fresh air, gentle terrain, and the beauty of Flanders’ protected lands. All are welcome!
